About the ‘Knowledge of language and life in the UK’:

From 28 October 2013, there will be two parts to the knowledge of language and life requirement, both of which must be met by all applicants for settlement unless the individual is exempt. Applicants will be required to pass the Life in the UK test; and to have a speaking and listening qualification in English at B1 CEFR or higher, or its equivalent. We offer both online and campus based Life in the UK Preparation course (UK Citizenship Course).

 

Life UK Test & UK Citizenship Course

This life in the UK test is provided to familiarise you with the format of the official test. You are advised to study the learning material in the official handbook before attempting the test. The test consists of 24 questions, and you need to answer at least 18 correctly to pass

Life UK Test & UK Citizenship Course Preparation – Online

The Aim of the course is to help candidates to understand the life in the UK on our user friendly On-line Training Panel . On request we can arrange one-to-one preparation sessions on special fee package.

B1 SELT – GESE Grade 5

You must pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) in at least CEFR level B1 in Speaking and Listening for:

 

Indefinite Leave to Remain (to settle) or British Citizenship

Trinity’s GESE Grade 5 exam = CEFR B1.

Transport for London (TFL) has announced that all new applicants, and existing private hire drivers applying to renew their licence for the first time since the introduction of this new requirement, must now meet the equivalent of a B1 English language requirement.
